HCR Receives Another National Award
Excellence in Training Awarded to Harvey Community Radio (HCR) by the Community Broadcasting Association of Australia
2017 has been another successful year for volunteers and staff, awarded finalists positions in four categories for the annual CBAA Awards. We made the finals for: Oustanding Small Station (for stations with an annual revenue of less than $100,000), Excellence In Indigenous Engagement, Outstanding Volunteer Contribution and Excellence in Training.
Reaching the finals for a small station like HCR is an amazing achievement however we were further rewarded with the winning trophy for Excellence in Training. Winners were announced at a Gala Awards Night in Brisbane on 11 November. Our HCR team, friends and family gathered at the Harvey Recreation & Cultural Centre for a live stream Facebook session on the big screen, preferring to share the experience with everyone rather than sending one person to Brisbane as a representative.
HCR is grateful for the opportunity to showcase our strengths through the CBAA awards and are thankful for the support of the Community Broadcasting Foundation (CBF) who provide major funding opportunities, Community Media Training Organisation (CMTO) who provide accredited and pathways training opportunities, the CBAA for overall support and our most valuable asset, volunteers and one staff member. HCR would not be able to provide an effective community service without the support of community, local businesses and the Shire of Harvey.
